On 24 July 2011 our dear Friend Barbara Centkowska passed away. For many years, she was the Director of the International Relations Office and Erasmus Institutional Coordinator of the University of Economics in Katowice.
Barbara Centkowska made an enormous contribution to the development of the University’s international relations through the promotion of academic mobility, participation in European education programmes and involvement in the development of joint study programmes. During the 16 years of Barbara’s work for the University it concluded over 150 international agreements. The International Relations office headed by Barbara carried out 40 international projects, and more than 2,000 students and graduates benefited from study exchange and foreign placement programmes.
Barbara was also the originator and first chair of the IROs Forum, Board Member of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, and Board Member of the Prime Networking.
She was an active person, working persistently to reach her goals. Nothing seemed impossible for her. She also showed great determination in fighting her illness.
She will always remain in our memory and in our hearts.
